Bike Rides, big trucks, fast cars, speedy boats what more could a boy want!

He is my champion bike rider. He will ride for miles and loves dirt trails.
I worried in spring when he refused to get back on the bike saying " I lost my balance!" it took some gentle and not so gentle coaxing and then he was hooked.
He even upgraded to a bigger bike.

So my friend called me two weeks ago to tell me about the library story time train day. I politely declined thinking of all the other things I had planned that day and of how horribly slow the Heber Creeper moves. The day of the ride came along and she just happened to have an extra ticket, the sun was shinning, and Luke looked like he needed something to do besides be my sidekick at work.
So we rode the train!

We have been busy!
Birthday Celebrations, book reports, piano festival, vacation time have all come and gone and I haven't been a very good blogger. I can blame it on my camera but all I need to do to fix that is get a new flash battery. (I've needed one for almost a year)
I've come to terms that I'm more of a enjoy it and make a mental image type person rather than document everything with photos. But.... the kids love the pictures so I will try to be better and maybe next week I'll get a new battery. Maybe.

Oh the Drama of Student Government

Mia had a major life disappointment today. She didn't make Student Council.
This is my girl to which all things academic come easy (cartwheels, walking without falling, standing, etc. those are things she is used to failing at) but until today anything to do with school she thought was a sure thing.
She broke the news with a happy face but when I asked who made it the tears started flowing as she listed some of her best friends. I must say even though she is disappointed she is very happy for her friends.
Lucky she is like her mother and a good dose of ice cream or chocolate can help ease the sting. We are off to have a Mommy/ Daughter bummer I didn't make it treat after dinner.

The Timeout Bench

Luke spends a lot of time on this bench rethinking some of his choices. This time I was pretty mad and left him there for a while. He decided to make the best of it, climb inside and take a little rest. He looked so cute, I forgave him for putting the entire roll of toilet paper in the toilet.

Ice Skating

My goal for the Christmas break was to do one fun thing each day.
Most days the fun thing was playing with friends or cousins but we did see " Alvin and the Chipmunks" (pure torture for me but the kids loved it) We also attempted ice skating in Midway. Luke mostly just rolled around on the ice, Mia did great and Jada caught on towards the end. Luke wandered off (of course) fell over a snow hill and cried the whole way home as his frozen hands thawed out. The plan was to go for hot cocoa but the wet frozen screaming boy put a stop to that, maybe next time....
who am I kidding one skating trip per year is good enough!

Jada's Day to Shine!

Yesterday was Jada's 2nd grade Christmas program. She has been talking about this and practicing her songs for a long time. She did a great job. She got to check out early so I took her to get a treat. Did she want a doughnut, brownie, ice cream??? No, she picked salad. If only I thought of salad as a treat.

One of those bleary kids is Jada.

The theme was Cowboy Christmas. Of course!

Also...
Jada's piano piece for the Reflections contest went on to the next level. They had an award program and Jada had to play her song for everyone. She did a wonderful job. She had to play standing up because the seat was too low. Poor girl has my height genes.
All the good parents took pictures of the kids on stage getting their medals I just patted myself on the back for remembering to take the camera to at least one event of the day.

Celebrating Luke!

Luke recently turned four!
We brought in the celebration with a Sunday gathering of friends for cake (Jessica's best recipe ever) and ice cream. We then had a family party at Chuck E Cheese. The people who work there must be extremely patient or half crazy. That place is loud and obnoxious but Luke loved the attention, games, gifts, and food. So I'd call it a success.
I will add pictures once I get some from my Mom. I remembered the camera but forgot the batteries (so typical me)

Some things that are great about Luke:

He still loves Monster trucks, diggers, police cars, ambulances, fire engines, Nascar, etc......

He loves his blue blanket called old B
(old because I tried to buy a replacement for washing days but the new one doesn't work)

He won't go to bed until he watches part of Sports Center with his Dad.

He comes to work with me almost everyday and fills his Rhino with parts that everyone has to search for later.

If he wants out of chores he will suddenly become sick.

One of his favorite songs is "Bad to the Bone"

He would live in sweat pants or pj's if I let him.

(Hmmm it fills like I'm writing about a 40 year old man not a 4 year old boy I guess they really don't change that much it just becomes less cute) ha ha

He loves stories and cuddles and back tickles and tells me he loves me almost everyday.

I love Luke and don't look forward to the day when I have to send him off to school, I'll miss having my buddy by my side all the time.

The Ride

I could hardly wait to bike ride in Moab. I've never done it even with my hippie tree huggin past. I read up on some of the different rides they had them rated 1 to 4 with 4 being hard. I wasn't worried I mean really, I totally conquered Dutch Hollow (ok maybe not conquer but I felt experienced enough) I have my old homegrown Schwinn that sparkles in the sun and was a very good bike back in 1999. I should have taken a hint when the people riding in the van started making fun of the Schwinn on top I should have ran when I looked around and saw some of the body armor people had on. The van driver took one look at me in my workout gear and michael Jackson riding gloves and decided to show me the one bail out point if the 30 mile ride got too technical or if I was in danger of bleeding or freezing to death. That was enough for me I was going to show these gloating, armor wearing, full suspension riding fools that I was capable of riding their supid little trail.
and....... I did it!!
I only flew over the handle bars twice. I did almost freeze to death at the top but my loving husband gave me his gloves and sweatshirt (if that's not true love I don't know what is) and the best part is I would do it again. (with body armor, better gloves, and a full suspension bike.)

Ten Years

To celebrate 10 years of marriage we took a short trip to Moab.
Last year we celebrated Brandon style (Raiders game) this year mine.
I loved both trips. I'm glad I married someone with different interests I've experienced so many fun things in the past ten years that I would have missed out on. (Who knew I would grow to love watching professional sports)

Lagoon

Last weekend was pure bliss for my kids. We spent the entire day at Lagoon with Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncles. Jada went on Colossis (?) for the first time. She had been planning and measuring herself all week to make certain she qualified. She even tried to wear her sandals with heels just to be a litttle taller and seal the deal. When the time came to go on it she freaked and changed her mind but scince I'm such a good parent I grabbed her and said "You're doing it!" The Lady at the counter didn't think that was good parenting she pulled Jada aside and spoke to her privately and gave me the hand when I tried to put in my 2 cents. I'm not sure what she said but Jada stopped crying and stood in line fearlessly. She even opened her eyes during the second loop and said "Whoa! Cool!" and demanded we do it again.

What a fun day!

Lake Tahoe

Just another day in paradise.

We squeezed one more minute out of summer by heading to Lake Tahoe the week before school started. We spent a day on the beach, a day in a boat, and a day mountain biking at North Star. Thank goodness we have friends with"friends in high places" we were able to vacation like superstars without the superstar prices.

Why oh why did we wait until fall to start mountain biking in the morning?? We wasted too much precious sunlight training for runs. (Running is fun don't get me wrong but doesn't bring that vacation feel that biking in the mountains has) It's been so much fun to get out early with no kids and hang with the girls. We aren't super stars and won't be entering any mountain bike events anytime soon but we sure have seen some pretty sunrises, had a few laughs, gotten a few scrapes, and felt young and free.

This past summer Luke took the big leap from little to big kid. He still struggles with slowing down and often just jumps from his bike rather than use the brakes. We've got a pretty good supply of bandaids that are depleting fast but he loves every minute on his speedy bike.

Summer In a Nutshell

I'm just sitting watching the rain clouds roll in and thinking back on summertime fun. It seems there is never enough time to fit it all in, Oh but we sure do try!

We spent a couple days at Flaming Gorge. I've never been before and was impressed. Both Jada and Mia tried wake boarding. (a few bribes were used) Maybe someday they will actually enjoy it. If not, I guess more time for the rest of us.

We spent a fun 4th of July weekend with friends up at a cabin. We swam in a cold pond, took ATV's out for a spin, snuck rides on the neighbors zipline, and lounged around listening to the rain.

I finally rode on the Heber Creeper! Took the short trip and that was long enough. Jill and Jenny came along for the ride. Loved having all our kids together (except Mia, she was in California)

Well I started off the summer with good intentions of updating then life happened. Summer flew by with trips, swimming, running, work and then more work. So here are some highlights. (those that I had the camera for anyway)

Some major milestones of Summer 09

*Jada begged and begged to get her ears pierced and won.
*Luke spent hours in an ant infested sandbox and only complained once when one bit him on his privates (poor boy) I'm still working on getting rid of the pests.
*Some flowers actually grew in my yard.
*Half of the fence came down in the backyard, we took one look at all the work required and then went on vacation.
*I ran 2 half marathons and 2 10ks and one 5k.
*We camped and didn't lose Luke.
*Mia got up multiple times wakeboarding.

More pictures will come later when the computer stops giving me fits or when I get motivated.

Day 4 & 5 ( I think)

Next stop Winthrop WA!
We swam in the pool, ate some yummy steaks and ice cream, and found a good hiking trail.(waterfall canyon)
We packed up and headed through the Northern Cascades and then finally ended up in Bellingham where Jessie and Jared showed up with gifts of sidewalk chalk, car toys, and Nerds.
We checked out our campsite,
ate at Nimbus!
Watched a movie
called it a day.

Road Trippin (Day 3)

Rain, Rain, and more rain seems to be the theme for our vacations lately. Lucky for us the sun came out just in time to set up camp and go explore Cour d' alene. The water was freezing I refused to even put my feet in but that didn't stop the kids from swimming. We went back to camp and played with the giant frisbee and rubber band darts Jessie and Jared gave us. Lost one dart in a very evil tree, Brandon took one for the team and retrieved it. The tree gave a good fight, Brandon had many battle wounds.

On the Road Again! (Day 2)

We decided to take another epic road trip and headed out to see Aunt Jessie. Lot's and lot's of driving. We took the long way so we could see some new sights. This is day 2 somewhere in Northern Idaho. We only made it to Twin Falls on day 1 so no pictures. The drive to this point was amazing I can't believe some of those rivers in Northern Idaho.

Summer Bash!

To celebrate the last day of school the whole neighborhood gathered at Firths house. We had hamburgers (thanks Niesha), waterfights, snacks, and fun conversations. To top off the day we went to the Bees game, sat in the suite, ate more good food, watched fireworks, and the girls got to dance with the Bee Mascot on the Jumbo screen. This summer is starting out great!

Sunday Hikes Are Back!!!!

My Mother's Day gift was a family walk around Cascade springs. Time to get this family back into hiking shape. I'm expecting great things from them this year. We had to take the monster trucks to drive down the hills. I can get Luke to go almost anywhere as long as the trucks can come along.

This will be a boring post because my camera is still visiting my sister. I keep forgetting to pick it up. Too bad because I have lots to post about.

First: We survived the Piano Festival both Jada and Mia got eight superiors!

Second: We survived Jada's birthday party at Build-a-Bear. Thanks to a generous neighbor 12 kids were able to make a bear. (Also thanks to Monica for driving)

Last but not least I got new running shoes for my birthday (Thanks Brandon) I also got advice on how to avoid ankle and shin injuries. So time to increase those miles and get ready for some races!

Gym Girl Update

I've had a request for an update. Nothing too exciting no fist fights, scratching, pulling hair etc.
I've come to terms with exploring new spots.
I do believe in Karma because last week horse face got sick during class and had to leave, it must be a bad bug because she was not there on Thursday (so I visited my old spot)....Wait I take it back I don't want Karma to come and kick me in the butt for being mean.
I will now say nice things about her in my head so I won't get sick or break a leg.

Warning this is just a post to vent!
So I've been going to the same morning class for way too long to keep track and have kind of stayed in the same spot in the room. Last week another girl decided she liked that spot, no big deal she got there first so I just set up on the other side of the room.

Today I was the second person there and nobody was in the original spot so I put my stuff there then along comes horse face (I know that's mean but she has a really cute body just a long face with big teeth and I'm mad so I can be mean) She puts her stuff practically on top of mine!!! Note it's a big room and so far there are only three people and lots of other places to go. I thought she has to be kidding. As the class was about to start I asked her "Are you staying right here" She just snarled "I was planning on it" what a @#$#@Q@%@# So I moved. I should have stood my ground but as the class progressed she moved more towards the middle (I think she likes to be looked at) so I was able to go closer my equipment.

Thursday should be interesting. I do take some comfort in the thought that maybe she will feel the need to wake up even earlier to beat me to class not me I will be enjoying the extra 10 minutes of sleep and finding a new spot far from Mr Ed.

Living the Dream!

Those who know me, know that vehicles of any type are just not my idea of a good time. Maybe because I suck at driving (I'm one of those who give women drivers a bad name). So funny that our family business involves selling things with large scary engines (don't ever let me on the sales floor) Last week we sponsored Monster Truck Jam which happened to fall on Valentines weekend so needless to say no romantic dinners, movies, flowers, or even a card instead we were consumed by Monster Trucks and fast food. So to quote my good friend Audrey (who also spent her V day with earplugs and french fries) "I'm Living the Dream!!"

Seriously the second night wasn't so bad. Max D won and cheese fries kind of rock!

(but Brandon I'm expecting flowers and fancy dinner, Jazz games don't count, and a day of snowshoeing or skiing sometime soon! love ya)

Here is a typical picture of my father. He has always been the life of the party, supplying piggyback rides, ski days, jokes, and random adventures. A few years ago he got in a really bad ski accident and should have died. He pulled through but lost a spleen so we find ourselves today back in the ICU with a bacterial meningitis diagnosis. Hang in there Dad we love you! (We are having a fast for him this Sunday if anyone wants to join in)

It's always fun when Jessie is around! We took a winter break and headed to Coronado. We experienced warmer weather, played in a little bit of rain (no snow), explored the science museum, built monster truck ramps, met Jared, hiked, swam, became deathly ill (only Brandon he seems to be allergic to time off work) and relaxed.

Reasons Why Mia is Great!

Mia recently turned 9 here are just some of the reasons she is wonderful!

Loves to talk (even to me). She often starts a conversation in the middle which doesn't make sense unless you understand that her mind is always going a million miles per hour.

Very Friendly. She is loving and forgiving, everyone is her friend.

Likes trying new adventures. I can take her almost anywhere. She came this way. As a baby she would get upset if we stayed home all day or stuck to any type of schedule. Grandma called her a "Go baby"

Loves to learn. She looks forward to school each day.

Helpful. Usually does as asked without too much complaining.

Smart. Catches on to things a little too quickly.

I love watching her grow from a baby to a beautiful girl. I wish I could slow the process down but I know she is going to keep being an amazing person.

Last month after spending days driving trucks in the sand he was excited to try it in the snow, wasn't the same. He came in disappointed and extremely cold and left the Destroyer outside. He kept asking me to go get it. I put it off and then the snow storms kept coming, needless to say Destroyer became buried in a cold tomb of winter but not forgotten!

After weeks of tears and heartache I finally put on boots at 10PM and headed out to the front yard with a shovel and began digging, Luke eagerly watching from the front window. Common sense (in the form of Brandon) hit me, a new truck cost 4$ not worth digging up the front yard late at night so today Luke is very happy with a new destroyer from Walgreens and we will both patiently await the arrival of spring when the old one will reappear.

Way to Go Utah!!

Yesterday was a great, fabulous, wonderful day! I went skiing with my friends and gave snowboarding a short try. I have much more respect for boarders my butt and neck are killing me today. Nothing more humbling than having three year old kids zoom by as I slowly tumble down the mountain.
That night we watched the game at my friends beautiful new home. Had some good food and fun conversation. What a good life.

I sat down to post about Christmas but I can't find the camera and don't feel like stopping the rock fest downstairs to ask about it. Today is 2009 we are bringing in the new year with a house full of neighbor kids and me constantly saying "Clean that up before you get something else out, No popcorn I just vacuumed, and You need to take turns." So pretty much a typical day. Guess the new year didn't bring a super fun mom.

We went to see good ol' Neil Diamond last night. Before you laugh you must know he puts on a really fun show with a huge band. He plays a lot of old stuff so everyone can sing along. I was disappointed he didn't wear any shiny jumpsuits. I think he made my list of someone I would like to hang out with.

Lola and Creed love the water. You can throw, dunk, splash, and flip them and they love every minute of it. It was good for my kids to see that you won't melt or die if you put your face in the water. By the end of the trip my kids became fish too. Thanks Lola and Creed for the free swimming lessons.

My mother-in-law was born and raised in the wrong place. She is an ocean girl through and through. We took a hike to some waterfalls and a giant rope swing, she took one look over the edge and jumped into the water then climbed up the giant ladder to swing off the rope swing. I looked over the edge then explained to everyone that I would sacrifice jumping to watch the kids.

Rain, Rain, We Still Can Play!!

We tried going for a drive to see if we could find a place to hike or a new beach to explore. Most roads looked like this and the rental mini van didn't stand a chance.

So some of my big plans for this years trip had to be put off for another two years. We experienced record rainfall the last three days. Good thing it stays warm but lots of roads were closed and swimming in the ocean was a no go. We swam in the pool, puddles, and just enjoyed family time.

We are back, not to happy about it. Luke and I spent the day dreaming of going back. We should have filled out job applications while we were there. I have lots and lots of pictures I will probably be posting them for a long time you may get sick of them. How heavenly it would be to live in a place that's warm even in the rain!

Thanksgiving

Forgot to bring the camera along so you get more fabulous pictures of my cute kids. Thanksgiving was great times two. First stop; the gym which offers 3 wonderful hours of classes to prepare for the days feast. I had big plans to attend all 3 and then eat a whole pie but of course Joe called the night before inviting Brandon to play football bashing my dreams and limiting me to one class. (thanks a lot Joe)
Second stop; Grandma Fawcett where Jenny did beat us all in a game apple something or other. I will get even someday maybe with a game like Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders they seem to be my specialty I beat Luke all the time.
Last stop; the in-laws where we ate again and planned for our upcoming trip. Oh yeah that's right I'm off for Hawaii!
So to sum it all up I have a lot to be thankful for.

The little man hit three. We brought in the milestone with the usual family gathering. Lots of people, presents, food and love. He is lucky to have so many people who care about him and bring presents!

Man Week (more like man month)

The last week of October into the first week of November has been all about Brandon.First I spent our 9yr anniversary at the Jazz game, second I wore the Halloween costume of his choice, then I went to the Metallica concert, and for the grand finale we spent the weekend in Oakland at a Raiders game. Am I the greatest wife ever or what.

Some football player named Cliff with a SuperBowl ring. I think he thought I was going to take it and run.

My thoughts: even though Raider Fans look like thugs they are fun to hang with. Yes the team has sucked for a couple of years but everyone has a good sense of humor and lots of jokes to make about the situation.

Oakland is scary but San Francisco was fun and I got to go the H&M store. I guess man week isn't so bad!!!!!

The day started out perfectly we had planned a girls day of shopping in Salt Lake and lunch with Jennie M. but I guess my mind was only on the fun to come and I left the phone on top of the car while putting in Luke's car seat.
I realized the phone was missing as we started leaving Heber I had Jessica call and it rang so I figured I left it on the table, in the back of my mind I thought about calling and having Brandon go double check but I didn't want him to know I forgot it.
Turns out you should listen to hunches cause the phone was right by the mailbox and the mailman ran over it. Could have been avoided if only.
But on the bright side shopping and lunch was fabulous!

Lately Mia has only been hanging out with two boys Canyon and Felix. While I love these two guys, I have been a little worried that Mia should start playing with more girls especially at recess. Seriously what is going to happen if they hit the we hate girls stage?
I asked her to try and play with some of her girl friends and found out she wasn't interested. Turns out recess is serious business. She is in the Super Hero training program put on by Canyon and Felix. Canyon's strength is running and Felix's climbing. Mia apparently is in the intermediate stage and will get a wand. I guess I can't mess with potential greatness.

Zion Trip

Just coming down from my vacation high. We had the best time. It was my dream to wake up everyday and have nothing to do but hike, hike, swim, hike, eat, hike. Good Times!

Monica and I started the trip out by waking up at 5 am to wait in line for permits. Turns out we needed to be there at 3am. We missed getting Subway permits for Sat. but meet really interesting people (one wierdo bragged about taking a 3 month old canyoneering down 100 foot rapels and floating him across freezing water in a basket) and got permits to the Keyhole. We then spent the rest of the day doing mini hikes and meeting up with the rest of our group. Once everyone got there we hiked to a fun waterfall and jumped off the rocks into a swimming hole. (Ask Brandon about his jump) We ended the day with good food and a camp fire.

Saturday we had to get up earlier to beat the crowd. Monica and I tricked Audrey and Emily into coming with us (we promised entertaining people) We got the passes! We then spent the day getting lost trying to find the Keyhole canyon but having fun all the same. The Keyhole was cold, cold, cold, dark and slimy and absolutly wonderful. Thank goodness for dry sacks or I'm certain I would be at the bottom of a cold, frog filled pool.

Sunday we hiked the Subway. Beautiful. If you ever have the chance take it but do the whole thing from the top or you will miss some good stuff. More cold water (not as bad as the Keyhole) some short rapels, a few snakes, two giant spiders, and 10 miles later we made it out to the car where we were greeted by some hippies who cursed Shane with bad karma for not letting them fix his toe.

So much fun can't wait to do Mystery and Pine Creek canyons next time.

Will post pictures when I get some from the wonderful Cox family. (why take a camera when they are going to be there)

Freckles

Freckles. I've always hated that word it sounds harsh. Not at all sexy or sultry and isn't that what we are supposed to be? Time to embrace what I have (I know a bit late at 32) for some reason I was not blessed with the golden skin of my little sis or the snow white complexion of my older sis, as much as I hoped those spots would fade with age they just seem to increase and blend in with the wrinkles.
I look at my pretty daughter Jada and see her freckles and realize hey they aren't bad she is cute as they come. We are beautiful and proud to be sport'n angel kisses!

10 K!

Completed my first 10k! Went something like this:
1) I decide after running a 5 k that 10 would be even better, Monica is game for anything Ali jumps on board and superstar Jenn says "why not I could use another medal."
2) Monica uses her internet skills to find a training program we train diligently for a month with only minor complications (see Monicas blog for details)
3) Night before we carb up on pasta. Then all go home nervous and unable to sleep.
4) Morning of we check out the competition; all those freaks with 0% body fat and muscles bulging in their legs, decide maybe we got in over our heads but too late to back out. After a few bathroom trips we are ready to roll.
5) The race is on! My awsome parents drove all the way out in the middle of the night to watch me do this so I have my own fan club on the sidelines pretty cool!
6) Jenn took off never to be seen again, Ali and I stayed side by side (minus one sunglasses drop) we thought we were hot stuff until a 71 year old man flew by.
7) Results Jenn placed (of course) Ali and I made our goal to be under an hour and Monica technically made her goal under an hour if you take out the time it took to tie her shoe. So good job to the hottie trotties (Monica's name for our future relay team)

side note: now I am sick sick sick with some sinus thingy. I felt it coming on last week and willed it away until after the race but it sure did hit hard. Hopefully I will get ride of it by this weekend maybe another race?

Moustache Madness

Brandon is the king of weird hair. The odder more out of date the better in his book. He has a new favorite movie "Hot Rod" kind of funny in a "Dumb and Dumber" type way. The stunt man in this movie has a fake moustache and says "all great men have moustaches" When I heard this I knew what was to come. I complained everyday about it and how is made him look like a child predator but he insisted on keeping it. Then one day I come home and start talking to him and he just says "I hate you" I look up kind of shocked and finally notice that he shaved of the horrible thing (turns out he did it two days ago and I didn't even notice) Now if he grows another I have no room to complain.

Farming

Addison came and got Luke at 6:30 AM to ride in the tractor while he cut hay. I thought Luke would just fall back asleep but he stayed awake all morning just loving it and talking with his uncle. Later that night Addison came and asked Mia if she would drive while they loaded the trailer. I thought he was crazy and reminded him that Mia is only 8 and not the best choice. He said at eight she is already behind and needs to catch up. Turns out farm driving skills should be learned around 5 or 6 yikes!

Guess she did a good job! She earned 10 dollars and wants to do it again sometime. Hopefully she will get her driving ability from Brandon and not me.

First Day

Thought I was ready to send them back. Turns out I really miss having them around. Each day was an adventure this summer and now we have to settle into a routine, not really my style.

Mia was ready to go back she came home and said "I forgot how much I love the smell of school."
Jada had a good first day she wishes 1st grade was three instead of six hours or that the days would get longer so she had more play time after school.

Last Days of Summer

We jammed plenty of fun into the last days of summer break. First we spent the day at Deer Creek with perfect water until five when a giant rain storm blew through. Luke had just as much fun playing in the puddles as in the lake.

Next we spent some quality white trash time at the Monster Truck races. Hate to admit it but I'm starting to get a kick out of this type of thing (plan an intervention if I start growing a mullet.)
Last we spent the weekend playing hard in Bear Lake. We didn't get glass water but the kids spent plenty of time on the tube. They deserved it after patiently watching us wake board all summer. We went to the cave and had a crazy tour guide who thought turning out the lights and having us hike out in pitch black would be a good idea. I thought she was joking and didn't grab my kids turns out she wasn't. Jada was rightly scared and started crying I couldn't find her until a guy behind me turned on his key chain light. Don't know if I'm going to get her in another cave anytime soon.

Livin Up To the Name

We went to the Days of 47 rodeo not once but twice! The second time everyone decided to dress the part. It was entertaining both times. I like the bull riders and bareback riders, don't understand what would make someone want to do that but it's fun to watch.

Sunday Hikes

Each Sunday we have started loading up the truck and heading out for a new adventure. We've seen old mines, stinging needle, snakes, waterfalls, lakes, and lots of beautiful scenery. Each kid has suffered minor scrapes and bruises and some severe whining episodes but overall I know they love it especially when friends come along.
We didn't want to take Luke up this part but he threw the biggest fit when he saw his Mom and sisters take off without him. He has been the best hiker of all. This past Sunday we had a party and couldn't go hiking he kept asking when we were going to the mountains.

So I know it is kind of lame to just post about all the wonderful fun things we have been doing. It makes it sound like our life is nothing less than perfect. Well we have been having a lot of fun but behind each sunny picture there has been multiple meltdowns and tempers lost but who doesn't go through that. All in all I can't complain I've got good family and friends. So here is another corny post: We met up with the cousins and spent the day running through fountains, playing in streams, and eating ice cream it doesn't get more summer than that!

Picture Perfect Weekend

What a great weekend! The girls spent the night with Lola then Saturday we all met up in Park City. Aunt Linzi took the girls summer clothes shopping so they are now very glam. We had dinner and then played in the fountain, Luke was especially fond of this.

Sunday we went up Mirror Lake Highway. We stopped and played along Provo Falls the river was really raging. (Notice all my kids in orange this is going to be our standard hiking color from now on!) Next we headed up to the lake it still has quite a bit of ice on it. We played in the snow and threw rocks into the run off. This is my idea of good times. Lovin that all of this is so close to home.

Scary Camping Trip.

We took the trailer out on Wed. night for a quick trial run. It took forever to get things up and going when we finally got to the site things seemed to be going great. I left to go pay the camp host and make a few phone calls the girls were playing games in the camper and Brandon was working on the battery, he thought Luke was with the girls, after 10 min. he decided to check on the kids. And no Luke!! He sent the girls around to other sites and to the bathrooms while he took off on the hiking trail next to our spot. He was certain that Luke would take the easiest route the trail lead to a river which is never a good thing with a two year old. I got back 30 minutes later and Mia was at our site crying, Jada was on the trail searching with her Dad. I found out what was going on and headed the opposite way of Brandon yelling for Luke. After about 10-15 more minutes I decided to go ask the camp host to come help us. On the way over I heard faint crying I stopped and listened then took off up the hill following the crying. I found him by a fence under a big pine tree straight up the steepest mountain, he didn't take the easy route but blazed his own trail. So lesson learned must keep Luke in eye sight at all times but at least I know he likes to hike!

Summer Is Here!

We finally went out on the beastly boat! Summer is officially here. The water was chilly and refreshing. I will be posting pictures sometime soon so everyone can see the greatest family friendly boat of all times. I love summer time!!!

Dinosaurs Roar!

It finally feels like summer. (even though it snowed last week) We have started going someplace fun at least once a week. Here we are at the dinosaur museum the highlights included the erosion table, star room, and ice cream sundaes. My personal favorite was IKEA afterwards. We are lucky to have fun friends to explore and chill with. Can't wait for our next adventure.
